News2020

 High school and university collaboration classes was just finished.
On the morning of Saturday, November 7, I gave a class on making kumihimo at Ohki High School in Kyoto City. This was the fourth year in a row. This time, although the corona pandemic was still ongoing, we took measures to prevent the spread of the infection, and the first-year students enjoyed making kumihimo, one of the traditional crafts in Kyoto. As in the previous year, the final report was written in the style of a QR code that was read by each student with a smartphone, and the answers were reflected on the screen using a projector in real time. I was impressed with the way the program incorporated IT in many places. I'd like to give the class again next year!

We attended the ASP-19 international conference.
We attended the ASP-19 international conference held at KIT in Kyoto, Japan during October 14-18. Two master students presented posters at an international conference for the first time. They were a little nervous at first, but it was a great announcement. I look forward to more fulfilling content next time.

 High school and university collaboration classes was just finished.
A high school/university collaboration class was held at the Kyoto Prefectural OHKI High School. The class content was KUMIHIMO braid making. This year, it was held for the third consecutive year, and students enjoyed making braids, one of the traditional crafts of Kyoto. This time, it was an experience class unlike a normal class, and the impression report was in the style of reading the printed QR code with a smartphone and writing the report on the smartphone. I was impressed that the program incorporates advanced IT. Also, on the way back, I was very happy that several students came to see me off to the school gate. I would like to teach next year again!

 Academic Internship was just finished.
From September 9 (Monday) to September 13 (Friday), Mr. Tsuchiya, Department of Textile Science and Engineering, Shinshu University, came to our laboratory as an internship student. Although it was a short period of 5 days, he was seriously challenging the research topic every day, and it was a great stimulus for the members of our laboratory. If have the next opportunity, please come and visit to our laboratory!
